Today many love to “DIY” and try new projects. Here are steps that you can do to create a bleach-dyed top.

You will need bleach, a spray bottle, a dark colored shirt (preferably made of cotton), rubber bands and two wooden boards or hard objects.

Begin by laying out the shirt and folding it accordion style.

Next place the shirt on one of the boards with the other board on the top of the shirt so it looks like a sandwhich.

Now add a few rubber bands around your ‘sandwich’ to hold it together.

Make sure that you do your work over a plastic bag so the bleach doesn’t screw up the surface you are working on and wear rubber clothes to protect your hands.

Fill a spray bottle with bleach so that you can spray the edges of the shirt folded between the pieces of wood.

When finished spraying the shirt, take it out and let is completely dry before machine washing it. If the color is brown or red-ish, it will most likely lighten up.

Dior Diva

DIOR Workshop Exceeds Expectations

Dior is so much more than clothes on a runway. There is also a makeup and beauty line that is very highly admired by the elite. I was introduced to the skincare line a few months back and fell in love with the cleansers as well as the One Essential and Hydra Life collections.

After shopping the Dior product one day I was invited to an upcoming workshop. I was thrilled to be asked and was immediately put on the books. After a few weeks I realized I was unable to attend the workshop, so I called to cancel. The representative immediatley recommended another time slot that was available during my open availability.

I attended the workshop and was very impressed with the overall atmosphere and service that was provided. Suhad, a Dior Beauty Advisor and Makeup Artist from the Macy’s Dior in Troy, MI was my personal consultant and Jonathan from corporate Dior was there to assist with a personal make-up tutorial.

Following the workshop and shopping the collection I received a make-up bag as a gift with purchase.

I was invited to become a DIOR DIVA. To be the first to hear the latest news from Dior and gain access to exclusive shopping rewards, special offers, insider tips, and more! The personal attention that I received as a customer was beyond my expectations and I know that I will continue to shop Dior product because of their excellent customer service.

*I was not compensated to write a review for Dior.

Trend Watch

Artisan Repair is the newest trend alert for the upcoming season. Many designers are using new patches and repair work on their denim collections. This leads to hand-spun attitudes and age-old mending techniques to create artisan surfaces. Denim producers are using darning techniques, haphazard stitch colors and fabric remnant patchworks to create distinct finishes on denim garments.

The distressed look of busted knees, worn-out seams and frayed edges are all reinforced with naïve decorative stitch work to give denim its own beautiful aesthetic. This trend reminds me of the “DIY” projects, where you can take anything old and remake it into your own unique piece that fits your personal style. Maybe an old pair of jeans can be studded out, abrasions added and frayed to create a new look. Fashion is always changing, evolving and in constant repetition so to reuse old materials is just a simple way to recycle used garments and inspire new fashion creations.

FM332 My Style

When looking through pictures of myself growing up, I stumbled upon a huge fashion regret. Below I am pictured with a group of friends from summer camp during elementary school. I am wearing a purple button down tank that ties in the front with Adidas sweat pants. It only makes me wonder what shoes I was wearing in this capture of “What Not To Wear”.

Growing up I wasn’t necessarily the most put together fashionable kid, but I knew what good quality in clothing was at a young age. I was careless like many kids are today. Putting anything that I thought looked good together if the colors matched.

It comes naturally now when styling. I am a shopaholic, but can easily go into the mall for one thing or walk out with absolutely nothing, I know, sounds crazy. I will say though, I am a sucker for shoes. I love the old saying “if the shoe fits, buy it in every color”. I can rock any outfit; it’s all about the confidence you hold when you walk. I look at quality in fashions before I buy. I think it’s best to invest in a better quality pair of jeans that will last longer then pick up a cheap pair that is obviously lacking the same craftsmanship put into producing the denim.

My style has changed completely over the years. I have learned how to dress more appropriate for the occasion. In the photo below I am photographed with (Micah Jackson – Model) wearing “the Macaroni dress” 2012 designed by myself for the Art Institute of Michigan Fire and Ice event held in August 2012.Image
